Before we get into how to whiten our teeth, let’s see what leads to having yellow teeth!
WHY DO YOUR TEETH TURN YELLOW!
-drinking coffee or tea
-smoking cigarettes
-thinning tooth enamel due to aging
-poor diet which includes consuming processed foods high in acid
-excessive fluoride intake
-genetic factors
Now let’s get to the fun stuff!
1. BRUSH AFTER DRINKING OR EATING
Not always the easiest but the best way to whiten teeth naturally is to brush right after eating or drinking something.
2. BAKING SODA AND HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
Hydrogen peroxide is an antibacterial Agent and works great as a total mouth and gum cleaner and keeps the mouth free of germs.
Directions: Mix 2 parts of hydrogen peroxide with 1 part of baking soda to make a paste that’ll help remove plaque from your teeth.
Make sure to have enough hydrogen peroxide mixed skin as the baking soda can be rough on your enamel.
Brush the paste on your teeth for about 30 seconds and rinse well.
3. COCONUT OIL PULLING
Oil pulling works by detoxifying the oral cavity by sucking the dirt (toxins) put ofbyour mouth and creates a clean, antiseptic oral environment.
Directions: put a spoonful of coconut oil in your mouth and swish between your teeth for 5 – 20 minutes or add a few drops to your toothbrush and brush it on
Another option is to apply coconut oil to a corner of a clean washcloth and rub it on your teeth!
A bonus: Coconut oil has antimicrobial properites so its great for protecting and cleaning your gums too!
4. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
ACV works as a natural antibiotic, teeth/gum cleanser, and is able to remove those stubborn stains on the teeth. Since it’s naturally acidic, it helps break down plaque or other substances stuck to the teeth. Be careful not to brush too hard or too much as it can remove the enamel from your teeth.
Directions: Brush with ACV. Afterwards, brush again with regular, non-fluoride toothpaste, or you can rinse your mouth really well.
5. ACTIVATED CHARCOAL
Activated charcoal can help whiten teeth by absorbing plaque and microscopic tidbits that cause staining.
Directions: wet a toothbrush and into powdered activated charcoal. Brush teeth as normal, paying close attention to areas showing the most staining. Sip some water, swish around thoroughly and spit it out. Rinse well, until spit is clear.
For best results, brush with activated charcoal 2-3 times per week but avoid using if you have crowns, caps, or porcelain veneers.

That is so cool. I drink apple cider vinegar every morning, but I didn’t know I could use it as a tooth whitening agent!

I always try to get in the habit of brushing my teeth at least twice a day but the mornings are just the most convenient and memorable lol. But these are good tips and good that you added directions, I’ve heard of some of them actually.

I’ve recently learned about using turmeric and coconut oil as well. To combat the stain from the turmeric, I use a separate toothbrush when using it. I brush with my regular toothpaste afterward. There is still some stain, but not as much. I don’t mind it cause I love turmeric π

I haven’t used turmeric on my teeth, only in my food and as a face mask lol. And yes turmeric is a very awesome spice and is so underrated!
