My Valentine’s Day 2021

So my hubby and I don’t really make it a big deal to celebrate Valentine’s Day. But we figured that this is our first V Day living in a new city, new home, new everything pretty much lol. So we wanted to take advantage of this holiday and celebrate!

We decided last minute that we wanted to try and go bowling. Unfortunately every place was packed so we just decided to stay home lol. And yes we’re being safe out there for those who are wondering lol.

We ended up ordering dinner from a nice local restaurant and ate it at home while watching a movie. We loved all the food that we ordered so we are definitely ordering from them again!!! Here are a few pictures of what we ordered!

Crab stuffed shrimp, fried Brussels sprouts, bbq corn, and biscuits
Hubby had steak and scallops
This was one of our appetizers. It was pork belly with corn. OMG amazing!
All the other food we ordered!

I also told hubby that all he has to get me is a bouquet of flowers, I didn’t want roses because I wanted to be different lol. So check out what he got for me!

I loved it! And the strawberries were delicious too! Yum!

Funny story is that I planned to make my own chocolate covered strawberries so when I saw his strawberries I was surprised, but I definitely wasn’t complaining! Haha! Here are how my strawberries turned out!

I used Hershey’s chocolate to coat the strawberries. So delicious!

So I have to say that I enjoyed my V Day! Did you do anything for Valentine’s Day?!

Healthy Snack!

I’ve been looking for a healthy snack to avoid eating salty chips all the time, even though they can be addicting! Lol. I found this yummy trail mix from Whole Foods! It’s very filling and savory, all you need is about a handful to be satisfied!

What are your favorite snacks to munch on?

Happy Halloween!

Every year my husband and I normally go to Virginia to spend the holiday with my father n law and his family. We decided to skip this year so unfortunately we don’t have any exciting plans for Halloween =/

But it’s okay because we’re planning on just chilling at home, eating a bunch of chocolate, and watching scary movies on Netflix! I’m totally happy with that!

This is what we wore last year for Halloween! Can you guess who I was trying to be??! Lol

What are you doing for Halloween? And what are you dressing up as? Comment below!

Happy Halloween! 🎃

5 Best Chocolate Shops To Visit Today On World Chocolate Day!

1. FINE & RAW – Williamsburg

Chocolatier Daniel Sklaar champions low-heat cooking methods and raw ingredients to preserve cacao’s purest form and purported antioxidants. Procuring his brand from Venezuela, Peru, and Madagascar, he formulated both bonbon and bars. The bars are available in 78% intensity or laced with mesquite, sea salt or cacao and coconut!

2. JACQUES TORRES CHOCOLATE – Downtown

Although Jacques is known for his chocolate chip cookies and “wicked” spiced hot chocolate, sample his signature truffles to taste the full range of his craft from the relatively traditional (praline, caramel, fruit laced ganaches) to the nouveau (Earl Grey, saffron). Other goodies include chocolate-enrobed graham crackers, milk chocolate covered pretzels and Cheerios, and chocolate covered expressions beans and more!

3. KEE’S CHOCOLATES – Soho

Every orb at Kee Ling Tong’s confectionery is tempered and dipped by hand to create a thick, smooth shell that enclosed either silk cream filling, fluffy mousse or rich ganache. Créme brûlée, black and white sesame and Thai chili tend to be the best selling bonbon flavors, but key lime, blood orange, lavender, and blended pepper are also worth the indulgence!

4. L.A. BURDICK – Flatiron

Best known for its petite chocolate penguins and mice, the family owned, New Hanpshire based brand debuted in New York years ago with a shop and cafe. Assorted pastries (tea cakes and tarts by the slice) share space in cases with pâtés de fruits, marzipan, dipped caramels and assorted truffles!

5. LA MAIDON DU CHOCOLAT – Upper East Side

Launched in France in 1977, this international brand offers ganaches that pop with fruitiness (lemon, raspberry), herbs (fennel, mint) and liqueurs (kirsch, rum). The Upper East Side parlor also holds regular classes (called parcours initiatique) on select Thursday’s and Saturday’s (11am), one covering chocolate and tea pairings and the other exploring the nuances of various cacao types and the artisans’ production process!

Bacon and Peanut Butter?! Weird Food Combinations That Are Delicious!

1. Avocado and Chocolate

2. Strawberry and Tomato

3. Dark Chocolate and Parmesan Cheese

4. Oranges and Olives

5. Yogurt and Eggs

6. Bacon and Peanut Butter

7. Olive Oil and Ice Cream

Out of crazy weird combos, I would try out the bacon and peanut butter since I’m a fan of both. It’ll probably have a sweet and salty taste to it!

Avocado and chocolate sound interesting! They’re both soft and have a creamy taste so this could work.

The only combo that I’m a little thrown off by is the orange and olives! Olives have such a tangy taste and firmer texture. Oranges are a have a slight tang but are still sweet so I’m not sure how these two items would taste together.

So what do you guys think of these food pairings?!

Have you guys had any of the food combos before?

I’d be interested to hear about your experience!

Max Brenner – Calling All Chocolate Lovers in NYC

I first heard about this place from my coworkers who were raving about this restaurant that is known for its chocolatey desserts! So they really persuaded me to go to this oh so famous Max Brenner Restaurant because I mean we all love a good satisfying chocolate dessert right?! (well, most of us LOL!)
My husband and I went to the city to check the place out. When we got there, it was super crowded! It was very popular. We didn’t have a reservation, so we waited for like 20-30mins before we were seated (but that was expected since it was a Saturday, in the summer, in one of the most popular cities).

They had a bar towards the front of the restaurant, 2 floors where you can be seated and enjoy your meal, and the design and style of the restaurant is pretty fun and interesting! You’re surrounded by anything and everything involving chocolate!

You can walk in and just buy chocolate desserts if you choose not to eat there. MB (Max Brenner) also has a chocolate shop where you can buy a variety of anything chocolate along with their signature cups/towers that they present your drink or sauce in at the restaurant.

At Max Brenner, there is a wide variety of chocolate treats from pastries, milkshakes, hot chocolate hug mugs, chocolate shots, waffles, crepes, cakes, cookies, ice cream, and even chocolate pizza!

One thing I found interesting that I saw that people ordered were the Chocolate Fondue Towers! You are provided with a mini grill to roast your treats and then dip into the gooey goodness of chocolate sauce! The next time I go back, I will be getting this Fondue Tower!

MB also has regular food too! Burger, fries, salmon, pasta, mac n cheese, pizza along with beer, wine, and cocktails! (This is making me hungry just writing about it! YUM!)

I ordered the Brenner Burger with waffle fries paired with a nice tall Halva Milkshake! My husband ordered some type of sandwich (I don’t remember) and a nice tall beer! The burger and fries were pretty good, but that Halva Milkshake was so delicious!!! (as you can tell by the empty cup pictured above) It was so rich with flavor but the chocolate flavor was not overpowering at all! We enjoyed our experience there and will be going back sometime soon!

When you get a chance, try stopping in to Max Brenner to enjoy a nice meal and a bunch of awesome chocolate treats!

If you’ve been there before, let me know how your experience went!
