Super Easy Way To Water House Plants When You’re Out Of Town!

So I went out of town last weekend for Labor Day and I was worried because I didn’t have to to buy those self watering probes that you leave in the plant’s soil.

My only other option was to look up any DIY watering options. I went to YouTube and found a great method!

Items Needed:

-Shallow pan (I used a baking pan)

-plastic bottle with cap (1-2 liter soda bottle)

-knife or scissors

Directions:

1. Fill plastic bottle with water about half way and put on the bottle cap

2. Arrange all your plants onto shallow pan leaving room for the plastic bottle

3. Find a safe place for the shallow pan where the plants will get the amount of sunlight or indirect sunlight needed (depending on the plant)

4. Turn plastic bottle upside down and use knife/scissors to carefully cut open a small hole (about 1/2 cm) into the bottom of the bottle

5. Slowly turn plastic bottle right side up onto the shallow pan.

6. Loosen the bottle cap slightly so the water in the bottle can come out easily.

And that’s it!

Since mine don’t need to be watered that often (I have aloe vera, pothos, and snake plants) I just filled the bottom of the shallow pan with water instead of leaving the bottle with water on the pan with the plants.

Here are the plants before I left for the weekend. Sorry but didn’t take an “after” pic of the plants.

And when I came back home from my weekend trip, their soil was very moist from soaking up the water in the pan! I was super happy that it worked out! 😊

I’ve been blogging for about 2 months now! I published my first blog on Feb 21 on 3 Tips To Eat and Still Lose Weight!

I initially started writing because I experience anxiety quite a bit. I started journaling which actually helped me to be calm and helped me with clearing my mind.

Then I thought, “why not start blogging? I can probably help someone who is in the same boat as me!” So that’s how I got started! And I haven’t looked back ever since.

I noticed that my favorite things to write about are recipes that I’ve tried, do it yourself natural remedies, and reviews of the best restaurants that I’ve been to.

DIY Moisturizing Hair Gel in 7 Easy Steps!

I decided to make my own Flaxseed gel after watching YouTube Guru, Naptural85’s tutorial!

Benefits of Flaxseed Gel:

-Leaves hair soft, shiny, and moisturized

-Promotes hair growth

-Nourishing for the hair since flaxseeds are rich in omega 3 fatty acids

-Gives curly hair great definition

-Gives your hair a nice hold with out drying it out or leaving your hair crunchy

Mixes well with oils, conditioners, many other products

-Great for all hair types

All natural product

For this recipe, you will need:

Whole Flaxseeds (not grounded)

-Medium sized pot

-spoon

-cheese cloth or panty hose

-container to store the gel

Directions:

1. Fill pot with about 2 cups of water.

2. Add in about 1/4 cup of whole flaxseeds and stir so all the seeds are in the water.

3. Bring pot to a boil and then stir. Let boil for about 10 minutes on medium heat.

4. When you stir, you are looking for the gel to stick to the spoon after stirring it and lifting the spoon to see the “gel trail”.

Flaxseeds after being boiled for about 10 minutes

5. Once you have the “gel trail”, turn off heat and let gel sit for about 40 minutes – 1 hour. Mine sat for about 45 minutes.

6. Put panty hose or cheese cloth over a container. Pour gel into the panty hose/cheese cloth, then squeeze out the gel into the container. Be careful because it gets messy!

Gel poured into panty hose

7. Store in a container in your refrigerator so to lengthen its shelf life.

The finished product! I used coarsely ground seeds by accident instead of whole seeds. That’s why you may see some seed particles here in the gel. But I still was able to put the gel to good use!

And that’s it! Now you have your own gel that’s moisturizing and healthy for your hair! =)

DIY HOME DÉCOR in 6 Easy Steps!

Since we moved into our new place, I’ve trying to make sure our place is nice and comfy. But decorating and furnishing can be expensive! I am one who likes to save a few dollars anywhere that I can! So I decided to make my own wall décor that cost me less than $5! Here’s how:

1. I bought picture frames for $1 each from Dollar Tree. I found a frame that had a nice style that would fit nicely with the colors of our home.

2. I looked up a few quotes from Pinterest that I really liked!

3. I went into Microsoft Word and typed up the quotes. To jazz it up a bit, I played around with different fonts to make it more exciting!

4. I printed out a few copies that had different font sizes to see which fit the best in the picture frame.

5. Once that was completed, I folded the paper (or you can cut the access paper off) and put it inside of the picture frame

6. You can either hang up your décor on the wall or place on top of your dresser or table top.

Below are a few others that I created (sorry for the picture quality)

Other décor ideas:

A few other picture frame ideas are that you can print out a picture of your favorite landscape, scenery, famous place, etc., or you can even put a piece of personalized artwork that you or maybe your child has drawn up!

If your picture of choice is too small, then you can go to Walgreens or CVS and go to the Photo section to have it resized (this applies only to pictures that you might’ve found online). Before you go, you should upload the pictures on an usb flashdrive or a CD (whatever floats your boat). You can play around with the sizing of your photo so that it prints to fits the size of your picture frame.

And there you have it! SIMPLE and VERY EASY home décor that’s very affordable for anyone’s pockets!

RED WINE SPILLED ON CARPET?! DIY Stain Remover That Works!

DIY Carpet Stain Remover

My husband and I just moved into a new apartment a few months ago and it’s required for us to have carpet to reduce noise. BLAH! At first I was like, NO! I hate carpet! Since we didn’t have a choice, one thing we don’t do is wear shoes on the carpet and try to keep it as clean as possible.

Being paranoid about things being spilled on the carpet in the future, I looked up a Do It Yourself Carpet Stain Remover. I found a video on YouTube posted by Clean My Space and I followed her recipe, but I remixed it a little bit.

DIY Carpet Stain Remover Recipe:

2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide

1 tablespoon dawn soap

1 tablespoon of baking soda

2-3 cups of warm water

Directions:

Combine all ingredients and pour into spray bottle for easier spot treatment.

STORY TIME:

We had a few friends and family over for New Year’s Eve last year. All of us were drinking and having a good time…and drinking some more! Haha!

We were all feeling nice and I must’ve been feeling extra good because I was so careless that I accidently spilled my OWN glass of red wine! OH NO! MY CARPET!!! (We have light colored carpet by the way).

I ran to the kitchen, opened the cabinet, grabbed a rag, and pulled out my Carpet Stain Remover concoction and started spraying and scrubbing away! Within a few seconds, I began to see the carpet turn back to its original color! The wine stain was completely gone!!! Our guests were surprised that this miracle just happened in front of their eyes! I was surprised too, but so relieved! Whew!

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures, but I can guarantee this carpet stain remover mixture works! Plus I have witnesses! LOL!

Try it out and let me know how it works for you!
