My Holiday Week!!!

My parents and sister came to spend the holiday with me and my husband!

We did the escape room challenge and our theme was Alien Conspiracy. So we had to try and save all the documentation that proved aliens exist and we had to stop a bomb from going off! We had 60 minutes to complete the task and we were getting so nervous each task we had to do was so difficult to solve plus we were approaching the last few minutes!

We weren’t sure if we were going to finish! But we had great teamwork and was able to finish the challenge with 3 minutes left! Yay! They told us that this was their toughest escape room and had a 30% success rate so we were so happy that we finished it!

My mom is from NYC so we met up with her side of the family at a nice restaurant in Manhattan called Caffe Napoli. We had Bruschetta Salad for appetizers and boy was that delicious! For my entree I ordered Stuffed Chicken Marsala with Gnocchi and my husband ordered Filet Mignon w/ Beef Ravioli. Wow everything was so tasty!

My mother in law hosted Christmas Eve and I made the traditional Puerto Rican dish called Pernil which is slow roasted pork shoulder. It was a success because everyone loved it and there was none left! Haha

For Christmas we stayed in and I cooked a nice big breakfast for us all! We opened all of our gifts and everyone pretty much got what they wanted! One of my favorite gifts is my new iPhone 8 Plus! My husband surprised me and I couldn’t be more happier because I was so overdue for a new phone!

This was such a great Christmas and I’m so glad I was able to spend it with my family!

What did you all do for the holidays?? Comment below, I’d love to hear what you did!

Front Row Seats! July 4th Fun!

Hey I hope you had a fun celebration for Independence Day!

I spent the day in Long Island for a BBQ at an in laws house. We relaxed in the pool most of the time since it was so hot! It was pretty refreshing to be able to chill out in the water!

Our food selection consisted of skirt steak, hotdogs, macaroni salad, potato salad, green salad, watermelon, and more! Yum!

We went home a little early to avoid the traffic going back into the city. But we were able to have front row seats from our window to watch the fireworks last night! It was so beautiful! I enjoyed my July 4th celebration!

Did you do anything exciting for Independence Day?! Comment below! 😊

Mother’s Day Weekend!

Friday night, I went to Duo Lounge with my husband and our friend. They had good music and the drinks were nice and strong haha!

Saturday was a chill day for me. It was raining and gloomy out so I decided to stay home and watch Netflix movies all day. Did I mention I love being home?! It’s just so comfy lol!

Sunday I planned a Mother’s Day lunch for my mother n law and my in laws. We dined at Wood and Fire Restaurant in Pleasantville. The place has a nice rustic feel to it. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. They have tv screens around with sports games playing too!

The food they have is a mixture of salads, wings, garlic bread, pasta dishes, seafood, and personal pizzas. I ordered the lasagna and a side salad and it was so delicious! It’s probably the best lasagna I’ve had at a restaurant! My family members ordered chicken milanese, chicken scarpiello, rigatoni vodka, linguini nero, and personal cheese pizza. Our appetizers were frito misto, wood fired garlic bread, and w&f wings!

OMG everything was delicious! My family were all satisfied with their meals! We also ordered a pitcher of Sangria which was yummy too! I definitely recommend this place and I will be back very soon!

I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day Weekend! 😊❤️

These Last 5 Days Were Crazy Busy! Here’s What Happened…

WEDNESDAY MARCH 7

I found out last Sunday that my first cousin passed away. Our family lives in Pennsylvania in a small town outside of Pittsburgh so we left NYC Wednesday after work. This is when the Nor’easter was starting so I couldn’t even see the roads because they were covered with snow! But the drive was doable for me, I just drove slow and carefully.

We hit New Jersey and out of nowhere we come to a complete standstill in traffic. All lanes are not moving one bit. So one hour passes. Two hours pass. 3 hours… We ended up being stuck in standstill traffic for about 5 hours folks! My husband and I were so annoyed! The reason for the traffic was because 2 semi trucks were jackknifed and blocking the highway! Ugh! The police FINALLY came and had everyone exit the highway because they closed it down. Just wondering why the police didn’t come sooner to help =/

It was about 10:30pm when we were exiting the highway. We wanted to get a hotel for the night and pick up where we left off the next morning. But all the hotels that were in the area were booked to full capacity! Great =/ Then we decided the best thing to do is turn around and go back to NYC and leave in the morning since we were about 45 minutes away. The road that had the hotels was off of a 2 lane road. We were driving on the lane that was plowed near the hotels. We were driving to the end of that lane to merge onto the 2 lane road and as we’re driving, there are 3 plow trucks behind each other plowing the remaning snow from those 2 lanes. So as we’re approaching the end of the lane we were in, the plow trucks ended up plowing the snow into the lane we were in so now we’re stuck! My car is low to the ground so there’s no way my car could get over that pile of snow. We didn’t have a shovel either! Ugh! So we tried reversing to get out of the lane but then there were 2 cars behind us that got stuck in the snow! A regular truck with a plow came to help and we were able to finally get out and drive back to NYC! Woo! That all happened on Wednesday!

THURSDAY MARCH 8

Thursday morning we got back on the road and the roads were clear but for some reason they were still a few accidents on the highway here and there. But that’s better than being stuck in traffic for almost 5 hours again! We eventually made it to Ohio (where my parents and sister live).

For dinner, we ended up discovering this hidden bar/restaurant called Krakatoa! We absolutely loved it! Check out my previous blog and read all about it!

Krakatoa Restaurant and Bar!

FRIDAY MARCH 9

Friday was my cousin’s funeral in the morning and the church was jam packed. He had a great impact on the lives of many and he will always be remembered…

My mom is a dance teacher and she had the opportunity to direct and choreograph Hairspray, a high school musical in New Castle, PA. OMG you guys, the musical was great! The whole cast did a really good job and I’m proud of my mom for being successful at choreographing her first musical! She was so impressive, that the Head Director asked her to come back again to direct the musical for next year! Go Mom!

SATURDAY MARCH 10

Saturday morning, my sis and I made breakfast for the family. It was nice to be able to sit down and catch up!

My baby cousin also had her 4th birthday party which was art themed! My cousin planned and coordinated it all and it turned out really nice! My husband and I joined the fun and painted a picture of our own too! It was fun! It was so nice to be able to see my family again because I don’t get to see that side of the family very often since they live so far.

We left to go back to NYC on Saturday after the birthday party. Also, my brother in law and his family are moving to VA Beach at the end of the month so their going away party was Saturday night! As soon as we arrived in NYC, we dropped off our bags at home and went straight to the going away party at Maggie Spillanies Bar! That was a fun time! My husband and I danced the night away! We had so much fun that we didn’t leave until 4 in the morning! And remember it was daylight savings time so we lost an hour of sleep!

SUNDAY MARCH 11

My mother in law had a family gathering at her house for my brother n law’s farewell and for all the March birthdays that we have in the family which is quite a few! I was so exhausted and doing my best not to fall asleep during mid conversation! haha! Life keeps us all busy and it sometimes hard for everyone to get together. So it was nice to see my in laws that I haven’t seen in a while. We all had a great time!

As you can see, I had an eventful 5 days! I’m just glad it’s all over and done with! Has anyone ever been this busy before!? LOL

Highlights Of 2017!

So here are some highlights from this year!

My husband and I hit our 2 year wedding anniversary on January 22! Being best friends makes our marriage so much fun!

I do part time event planning and I had the opportunity to run an 8th grade formal event and which was a fun experience!

This summer I was able to visit my college friends in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area! It’s always a good time when we come together!

My cousins and best friends were able to come to NYC to help celebrate my husband’s 30th birthday!

I went to my first natural hair event called in Prospect Park in Brooklyn! That was a great experience to see so many men and women of all different backgrounds who embrace their naturally curly or coily hair!

I had the opportunity to see my favorite music artist Jidenna in concert! I was in the 2nd row closest to the stage so I had a great view! The concert was amazing!

I went ATV riding in Virginia with my husband and in laws which was so fun and I felt super adventurous! Haha!

Pumpkin Carving and cookie baking with my nephews was super fun too!

I had a great thanksgiving with my in laws! And my sister came in town too so we were able to do a lot of fun things together!

Last but not least my parents and sister spent a long, fun week here in NYC for Christmas! I had such a great year and can’t wait to see what next year has in store! 😊

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Hey!

Yesterday I went to a family gathering at my aunts house (it’s really my husband’s aunt). There was delicious food and beer too!

In my aunt’s house, there was a big pool for the children and a basketball court where the guys and ladies were playing together!

I was playing the game called Pokeeno with my aunts. The game is similar to Bingo and I won many times!

I had a good time with my family! =)

Then They Hear It…

Wife and daughter are patiently waiting.

It has been 6 months since they have

been graced by his presence.

Fighting for his country, out to sea with his shipmates.

Today is the day he returns to his family.

His favorite meal has been cooked,

A “Welcome Home” banner hanging proudly from their home.

Then they hear it…

His footsteps leading to the front door.

The jangle of his keys as he prepares to open the door.

Wife and daughter scream with excitement!

Daughter flings open the door before he

could even unlock it and jumps into her dad’s arms,

almost knocking him over from such a surprising gesture!

“Welcome home daddy!” screams the daughter and wife follows right after with a tight, warm, and loving family hug.

Now they are finally back together again.

As one happy family.

My Trip To D.C. This Weekend!

Unfortunately I found out that my close friend’s mother passed away. My husband and I went down to the DMV (stands for DC, Maryland, Virginia) area this weekend to be a support for our friend and his family.

Our other close friends came into town as well for the funeral. His family was happy and grateful that we were there for them during this tough time. If you have a few seconds, please keep his family in your prayers. Thank you!

We all went to college together but we all live in different places. So because of duties of life and the distance between us, we haven’t seen each other in a few months and it’s been even longer since we’ve seen some of the others. So it was nice that we all got a chance to meet up again! It was like old times, we’re just a little older now! Haha! We’re all starting families, getting promotions, achieving our goals, etc so it was nice to catch up with everyone!

Also 2 of my close friends from college live in Maryland so I was able to visit them! My friend just had a baby a month ago so I was super excited to see them!

Some of my husband’s family members live in Northern Virginia so we went to visit them as well! As you can see we took advantage of being in town and made sure we were able to spend time with everyone!

I thank God for these great people that I have in my life! They are amazing!
