So a few years ago, my friend put me on to bubble tea and from then on, I got hooked! Lol
Check out what I thought when I first tried bubble tea! My First Bubble Tea Experience!
So I found a spot literally right up the street from my place so I don’t know if this is a good or a bad thing lol. I might end up going there like everyday haha!
The place is called King Fu Tea and they serve milk tea, slushies, and other assorted drinks that have many flavors and add ons!
I usually order a milk tea with the flavored bubbles and I love it so much! I’m already a big tea drinker so this is like heaven for me!
I have to say that I enjoy this version of bubble tea more than my first bubble tea. Mainly because the first time, it had the chewy tapioca pearls which I’m not a fan of. This tea has the bubbles that are flavorful and have a nice pop to them!
Have you tried bubble tea before? If so, what is your favorite combo?!
So my hubby and I don’t really make it a big deal to celebrate Valentine’s Day. But we figured that this is our first V Day living in a new city, new home, new everything pretty much lol. So we wanted to take advantage of this holiday and celebrate!
We decided last minute that we wanted to try and go bowling. Unfortunately every place was packed so we just decided to stay home lol. And yes we’re being safe out there for those who are wondering lol.
We ended up ordering dinner from a nice local restaurant and ate it at home while watching a movie. We loved all the food that we ordered so we are definitely ordering from them again!!! Here are a few pictures of what we ordered!
I also told hubby that all he has to get me is a bouquet of flowers, I didn’t want roses because I wanted to be different lol. So check out what he got for me!
Funny story is that I planned to make my own chocolate covered strawberries so when I saw his strawberries I was surprised, but I definitely wasn’t complaining! Haha! Here are how my strawberries turned out!
So I have to say that I enjoyed my V Day! Did you do anything for Valentine’s Day?!
This weekend was busy for me with getting all my holiday decorations together and buying a few Christmas gifts.
I felt like all my hard work deserved nice beverage lol.
So I decided to make a spike egg nog cocktail with cinnamon, nutmeg, and Tito’s. It hit the spot! Haha!
How do you like to enjoy your egg nog?!
For lunch today I made a chickpea salad sandwich with a side of kale chips! So delicious!
I wanted to try something different from what I usually make with pasta which is with meatballs or chicken. So I decided to use the vegetables that I picked up from the Virginia Farmer’s Market the other day!
I chopped up everything to prepare it for cooking.
I used a little olive oil and sautéed the red onions until they browned. I then added all the vegetables to the pan and added my spices. I used garlic powder, Italian seasoning, a little salt, pepper, fresh basil, and fresh rosemary.
I mixed everything together and covered and let it cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes.
Then I added marinara sauce to the pan, mixed it in, and put the temperature on low. I covered the on and let it cook for about 7-10minutes or until the veggies are soft.
Then I poured the veggie marinara sauce over tri-colored rotini pasta and garnished with fresh basil! I also enjoyed this meal with a nice and crispy piece garlic toast! Yum!
There is this popular ice cream shop in Virginia Beach that I’ve been hearing so much about!
It’s called Lolly’s Creamery. They offer delicious ice cream flavors and have a few toppings to choose from too. You can also order an ice cream float which I thought was pretty cool! I haven’t had one of those since I was a kid!
I ordered the mint chip ice cream with a waffle cone. I’m a big ice cream lover so I was in heaven!
What are your favorite ice cream flavors?!
So if you missed my previous post, yesterday was my birthday! 9/22!
I honestly didn’t want to do anything too big so I kept it very simple.
My hubby and I decided to go to this local skating rink. We haven’t been skating in so long so it was like nostalgia for me plus a good workout! Haha!
Later in the day, my family organized a catered dinner and ordered from the Mediterranean restaurant called Baladi.
They ordered falafel, chicken and beef wraps, chicken kebabs, and muhammarah!
When I tell you everything was delicious, OMG I came back for seconds and thirds! Lol. I normally don’t eat Mediterranean food but I am open to trying new dishes and this spot gets 10 stars from me! They did not disappoint!
They also ordered me a specialty cake from “Nothing But Bundt Cakes” with a white chocolate raspberry flavored cake! Mannn the whole night, I was saying that this cake was absolutely amazing! No lie I had 3 pieces, that’s how awesome it was!
I have to say a had a great birthday and I am grateful for my family for making it such a special day!
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with different meatless recipes. I wouldn’t consider myself a vegan or vegetarian.
I’ve just been working on cutting back from eating meat and have been incorporating more fruits, vegetables, and beans for a more nutritious and healthy lifestyle.
While researching new recipes, I found this chickpea salad recipe.
Ingredients:
-1 can of chickpeas (rinsed and drained)
–vegan mayonnaise or regular mayonnaise
-spices: garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes
-buffalo sauce (optional)
Combine these above ingredients in a bowl and mash the chickpeas until it has a chicken salad or tuna salad recipe.
To make your own vegan ranch dressing, mix these ingredients together:
3/4 cup vegan mayonnaise
1 1/2 tbsp unsweetened non dairy milk
1 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp lemon juice
-garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, parsley and dill
Man ohh man doe this tastes just like ranch dressing. Seriously, I was so shocked!
But if you don’t have the time to make the vegan ranch dressing or don’t care if it’s vegan, then you can just use the regular ranch dressing too!
Take your favorite bread (I used the 12 grain sandwich bread and I like to lightly toast mine) and spoon on the chickpea salad mixture. Add white or red onions, tomato slices, a handful of spinach or lettuce, topped with the delicious vegan ranch dressing!
I usually enjoy this sandwich with a side of ruffle potato chips! =D
Even if you don’t like chickpeas, I think you would really enjoy this sandwich! Plus you can make this in bulk and eat it during the week for a quick meal!
Have you tried chickpeas before? What’s your favorite chickpea recipe?
