Weird Breakfast!

Lately I’ve been eating more sweet potatoes and sometimes I feel like eating them for breakfast!

For my sweet potatoes, I cut them up and leave the skin on for more nutrients. Then I boil them for about 10 minutes to soften them a bit. After I strain the water from them, I add my spices to it, which varies depending on how I feel for that day lol!

Today I added a very small sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt, cayenne pepper because I like spicy, roasted black sesame seeds, and chopped up dill! It is so delicious!

With my sweet potatoes, I had some of a green smoothie that I made the other day. Here are the ingredients:

Banana, carrots, pear, kale, capful of apple cider vinegar, hemp seeds, and water. This green smoothie is the bomb!

Have you eaten sweet potatoes for breakfast?

Or what is something “weird” that you eat for breakfast?

You Got The Love

Do you feel like you lose yourself in friendships or relationships? You feel like you give more than you receive or you’re unsure of where you stand with your significant other or friend?

Try doing a relationship review and see what agreements you made consciously or unconsciously. Ask yourself if you feel safe to relax and be your authentic self around this person. If not, try establishing healthier boundaries or you may have to really consider whether you should end that relationship all together for the sake of your sanity.

A part of self care is learning to love yourself by establishing healthy relationships with others. Before we can spread love to others, we must learn to love ourselves.

Hope this helps someone! =)

It’s Not Time Yet

How many of you have been patiently waiting for something to progress but it’s taking longer than expected? I’ve definitely been there!

Try to remember that we won’t always get instant results for every goal we’re trying to achieve.

In this time of stand still, challenge yourself to have patience and trust the mystery of life. Things are being orchestrated on your behalf and your endurance will lead to better results than you imagined! Keep the faith!

Easy Homemade Granola Recipe!

This morning I wanted to have some yogurt for breakfast but I ran out of granola! I thought to myself, maybe I can just make my own granola! So I looked up a simple recipe to make my own granola at home!

Here’s what you’ll need:

-3 cups OLD FASHIONED oats

-1 cup of nuts of your choice

-2 tbsp chia seeds

-4 tbsp of honey or maple syrup

-3 tsp vanilla extract

-2 tsp cinnamon

-3 tbsp coconut oil

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 300 Degrees F.

2. Mix all ingredients together, put parchment paper on a baking sheet, and spread out a thin layer of the granola mixture.

3. Let it bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until the granola starts to brown.

*Make sure to check the granola ever so often because it can burn easily.

Let it cool, then enjoy!

There are many fun ways that you can add this to a variety of dishes like:

Your favorite yogurt

As a topping for a baked apple

Add to muffins

Bake it in bread

Make granola bars

Eat with fruits

Roll bananas in the granola and freeze them

Add some sprinkles to a salad

Add to oatmeal for a nice crunch

Eat with mixed nuts

Place on top of a smoothie bowl or in your favorite smoothie

Your options are endless folks!

Storing your granola

You can store your freshly made granola in an airtight jar/container for up to 2 weeks long.

Or you can store in an airtight jar/container and keep in the freezer for a few months. When ready to eat it, just leave it on the counter to defrost overnight.

And there you have it! Homemade Granola that’s so easy to prepare!

What’s In This Fruit Smoothie?!

I haven’t had a fruit smoothie in a while so I decided to make one this morning!

Here are the ingredients and their benefits:

-Strawberries: contains vitamin C which is great for immune system and skin health

-Bananas: contains vitamin B6 which helps maintain a healthy immune system, contains potassium which helps control high blood pressure

-Kiwi: helps reduce blood clotting, aids in better digestion

Maca powder: boosts energy and endurance

Chia seeds: has high fiber and protein content

Greek yogurt: contains probiotics for better gut health

Spring mix greens: rich in folic acid, iron, and vitamins A, C, K, and B6

Black seed oil: high in antioxidants and may lower blood sugar levels

I added a handful of strawberries, one banana, one kiwi, 1/2 cup of greek yogurt, 1 tsp of chia seeds, 1 tsp Maca powder, 1/4 tsp black seed oil(has a very strong taste so be careful lol), a handful of spring mix greens, and a little water to help everything blend well!

I’ve never tried this combo before but it was pretty good!

*Make sure to check with your doctor before adding anything new to your diet*

Never Apologize

“Never apologize for feeling”

We all have the right to feel the way we feel, whether they are negative emotions or positive emotions.

Based on our own personal experiences and our own personal journey, life has led us to feel certain ways as a result.

We should not be afraid, but to own and express these feelings.

6 Easy Ways To Practice Self Care!

These are some of my top activities that I do to practice self care on a regular basis. Check em out!

Physical

Make a playlist and dance around to your favorite tunes

Dancing is always something that soothes my soul. To be able to move and harmonize with the music is one of my favorite self care practices!

Take a relaxing bath while listening to calming music

I always use Dr. Teals Bubble Bath in combination with Dr. Teals Epsom Salt when I take my baths. I run my bubble bath, dim the lights, light a few candles, and turn on 432 Hertz (deep healing music) and use this time to unplug from the world!

Mental

Get lost in an interesting book

I enjoy reading self help books where I can soak in the knowledge and be able to apply it to my own life. I am currently reading The Edgar Cayce Remedies that talks about holistic approaches to common health issues.

So whether your genre of choice is fiction, history, or mystery, dive in and after a few minutes you’ll be captured by the story!

What’s your favorite genre to read?

Grab a coloring book and let out your inner child

It’s the constant motion and calming sound of my colored pencils that help me chill out and relieve any tension that I’ve had for the day. Here’s the Adult Coloring Book that I’m using along with the Colored Pencils that work best for me!

Emotional

Get in a comfortable position, turn on relaxing music, close your eyes & Meditate

When I meditate, I like to lay on my bed or on my couch. Michael Sealey is one of my favorite meditation Youtubers to listen to.

I put in my headphones and turn on one of his guided meditations and just tune in. After my meditation session, I feel so much more relaxed!

Release your thoughts by journaling whatever comes to your mind

I like to Journal because I have a lot of thoughts running through my head, maybe its from my Mercury in Virgo or Mars in Gemini! haha (a little joke for my astrology folks out there!) There is no right or wrong way to do this because this is for your benefit.

If you try out some of these self care practices, let me know how things went for you! =)
