Lunch Time in Virginia Beach!

My hubby and I went on a stroll on the boardwalk today. There was a slight breeze but the sun was peaking out so the weather was perfect!

We were starving so we went to this Puerto Rican spot called Mojito Cafe for lunch. I ordered a Black Cherry Peach Mojito. I thought it was a weird combo but the waitress said it taste great so I decided to give it a try! She was right it was a good choice!

For lunch, I ordered a Pernil Asado (Garlic flavored pulled pork) with Tostones (fried plantains). It was amazing! Pernil is one of my favorite Puerto Rican dishes so this definitely hit the spot! =)

Birthday Weekend in NYC!

My husband’s birthday was on June 30th and he finally hit the big 3-0! We had a fun filled weekend!

JUNE 30 – FRIDAY

We had breakfast at a local spot in the South Bronx. We were running a few errands in the area before heading to Mountain Creek Waterpark!

Left was my sandwich: Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with jelly…Right was hubby’s: Bacon, lettuce, and onion sandwich with BBQ sauce! 😋

We just finished at the Waterpark and are now enjoying our Strawberry lemonade and Rainbow Italian ices!

My cousins and friends had come into town and my mother n law was super nice to cook us all dinner that night. We had baked ziti, baked chicken, rice and beans, and garlic bread. It was so delicious! And we sung Happy Birthday to the birthday guy!

JULY 1 – SATURDAY

Now we’re on our way to Bubba Gump Shrimp in Times Square!

“Run Across America” Sampler Appetizer – grilled shrimp, mama blue’s fried shrimp, seafood hush puppies, spicy chicken strips and bubba’s far out dip and homemade tortilla chips! and a Frozen Coronita!
“I’m Stuffed!” Shrimp – Large Shrimp with Crab stuffing, baked in garlic butter and Monterey Jack cheese served with Jasmine rice!
My beautiful cousins to the left and my gorgeous childhood friend to my right (been friends since the 5th grade!)

Later that night, I threw a party for Danny and invited our friends and family over!

Our guests were playing beer pong, King’s Cup which is a drinking card game, Head’s Up and other games as well!

My husband wanted pernil (Spanish style pulled pork) so I cooked it for the first time! His mother makes really good pernil so she gave me instructions on how to make it and it turned out amazing! There was no more pernil left haha!

I also made Buffalo Chicken dip for the first time and that was totally fine too so I’m guessing everyone like it!

Sorry that the food pictures look so rough. I took a quick snap shot of everything but I wanted you guys to see all that we had at the party!

It was a great weekend and I’m glad that my husband enjoyed his birthday weekend! =)

What’s Your Favorite Food?!

One of my favorite meals to eat are fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, yams, collard greens, and cornbread!

Growing up my grandmother would cook this for us and I loved it! It was some good ‘ol Comfort food for sure!

Being that my in-laws are Puerto Rican, I’ve been introduced to a lot of delicious Spanish foods too!

My favorite Spanish foods are pernil which is slowly cooked pork, and tostones which are smashed and fried plantains. Woo wee! The bomb dot com!

I have more favorite foods from different cuisines but I’ll talk more about that in another post!

But I want to hear from you!
